Alexa has been involved with dance since she was three years old. She began her studies at Ms. Huguette's Dance Studio under Huguettes Thomas, Christine Thomas, Nadine Novello, Tina Kang, Neil Fernando, Lettie Abdel-Aziz, and Meghan Stapenski. Throughout her training she studied classical ballet, both French and Cecchetti Method, at Studio Maestro (NYC) under the instruction of Francois Perron, Deborah Wingert, Fabrice Herrault, and Marina Stavitskaya. She found much success in the competition circuit receiving countless scholarships and awards, most specifically at New York City Dance Alliance and The Pulse On Tour.
Alexa went on to attend Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers University) under the University Dance Works Scholarship. She graduated with a BFA in Dance Magna Cum Laude in 2014 and received the Dance Express Choreography Award. Alexa has worked with choreographers including Sidra Bell, Manuel Vignouelle, Stefanie Battan Bland, Julie Bour, Brian Brooks, Ginger Thatcher, Jay T. Jenkins, Larry Keigwin, Randy James, Graham Lustig, Doug Elkins, Jonathan Campbell, Raegan Bliss Wood, and Keith Thompson.
She performed in the Princeton Dance Festival in Francesca da Rimini under the direction of Graham Lustig and at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. in a piece by Christian Lopez. As a member of Zella Dance Company under the direction of Arielle Petruzzella, Alexa performed across the United States in various festivals and evening length performances. She most recently toured internationally with the production Uma Saudação à Whitney Houston under the direction of Rafael Mello. Alexa has also been featured in TV commercials for major television networks.
Alexa’s choreography has been showcased at the ACDFA Festivals as well as at New York Live Arts. Her choreography has won countless awards and recognition competitively over the past 5 years. In her short time post-graduation, Alexa created the “University Based Curriculum” to implement in classes for high school students seeking higher education in dance. In the last 5 years alone, her students have gone on to join the National Tour of Matilda, attend Boston Conservatory, University of the Arts, Alvin Ailey's Pre-Professional Program on Merit Scholarships, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Summer Intensive, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive, Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive on scholarship, Steps Teen Summer Intensive, and join University of Maine Dance Team, among others.
She worked as Marketing Associate for the highly acclaimed convention, New York City Dance Alliance. Alexa used her background in graphic design to create much of the visual content for New York City Dance Alliance, Onstage New York, and Lanteri NY. She established herself as a social media specialist and had the privilege of working on events including the New York City Dance Alliance National Finale, the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards, Destiny Rising, and Bright Lights Shining Stars.
Alexa has most recently become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with a Performance Enhancement Speciality. With her training in strengthening, flexibility, and more, Alexa has implemented new training methods into the curriculums at Lambarri Dance Arts. These programs will facilitate the use of proper techniques and modalities for young dancers not only to build proper strength and flexibility but to avoid injury.
Alexa is excited to bring creativity and innovation to Lambarri Dance Arts and establish her new studio as a prestigious and distinguished force in the dance world.
